Bel Air / Holmby Hills

Standing in perfect harmony with modern mansions.

Welcome to Bel Air and Holmby Hills

One of Southern California’s most coveted neighborhoods.

Iconic estates, statuesque iron gates, winding streets protected by a canopy of lush vegetation, and opulent members-only clubs await within the gated entrance of Bel Air and neighboring Holmby Hills. Walt Disney’s home, The Playboy Mansion, and the Hotel Bel Air are just a few of the most beautiful and historic sites to behold within the neighborhood, standing in perfect harmony with modern mansions, stunning villas, and vast manors owned by celebrities and Hollywood’s elite.

Development of the area first began in the early 20th century with some land selling for $100 per acre. Today, Holmby Hills and Bel Air, along with Beverly Hills, form the Platinum Triangle of Los Angeles neighborhoods. Many homes in the neighborhood have previously broken records for sales prices in the United States. World-class cuisine, unmatched privacy, and a storied history have come together to create one of the nation’s most sophisticated communities.

Local Lifestyle

Despite the widespread reputation of the glitz and glamour of Bel Air and Holmby Hills, residents actually enjoy a serene and picturesque lifestyle. While urban amenities are just a short drive away, life behind the gated entrance allows for a retreat from the sometimes-chaotic landscape of interior Los Angeles. Meticulously maintained lawns, luxurious restaurants and hotels, and neighbors worth rubbing elbows with are just a few things which await beyond the iconic gates.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Five-star accommodations boasting dining headed up by world-renowned chefs, luxurious spas, and scenic outdoor recreation are just a few of the perks of living in the hills. This integral asset to the Southern California lifestyle has been revered by those across the globe for decades.

Wolfgang Puck at Bel Air Hotel is one of the most delightful dining experiences in Bel Air. The signature restaurant at Bel Air Hotel specializes in California-inspired fare, such as thin-crust pizzas, caviar, pastas, and surf and turf creations, all served in a beautiful garden setting. The pot pies, served with organic chicken and black truffles, are comforting favorites among guests.

The Bel-Air Country Club is arguably one of the most prestigious clubs in the nation. The club consists of tennis courts, a professional 18-hole golf course, a dining room with unmatched views of the UCLA campus, and meticulously maintained grounds. The golf club is also the home course for the UCLA Bruins.

Bel Air is located adjacent to the University of California at Los Angeles, one of the most prestigious institutes of higher learning in Southern California. The beautiful campus is home to the Mildred E. Mathias botanical garden, a seven and a half-acre public garden, outdoor learning space, and research facility.

Things To Do

Some of the most storied estates, mansions, and parks are located right within Bel Air and Holmby Hills. The Playboy Mansion, one of the most famous homes in the world, is located on Mapleton Drive, just off of Beverly Glen Boulevard. Nearby, Beverly Glen Park is an expansive site known for panoramic views, and the privacy within residents-only leisure spots.

Another beautiful estate with a rich history within Holmby Hills is the ten-acre Owlwood Estate, first built in 1936. Once occupied by the sensational duo, Sonny and Cher, the architecture is historically significant and reminiscent of true Southern California prestige.

Schools

Bel Air and Holmby Hills are home to some of the most prestigious schools in the area, both public and private. Some of these are:

  • Palisades Elementary Charter School, kindergarten-5th grade; Palisades Elementary students are consistently outperforming other schools in regard to state test scores, and is a Common Sense School, for their emphasis on technological competence and safety
  • Palisades Charter High School, grades 9-12; one of the first high schools in LAUSD to achieve independent charter status is a California Gold Ribbon School, a California Distinguished High School, and has been recognized by Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, L.A. Magazine, and others
